The Planning and Zoning Department processes claim of exemptions, conditional uses, variances, subdivisions and other activities regarding land use in the unincorporated areas of the County . The department, in cooperation with the Assessor's office, also oversees addressing, through the application provided to the left under "forms and applications". Note that Luna County (LC) does not issue building permits for construction but does process building permit applications for the unincorporated areas to verify compliance with the flood zone regulations. Landowners are encouraged to call or visit the Department before development to ensure that all regulations and requirements are being met.
