Vital Records

¨ Proof of age is required, (driver’s license, certified copy of birth certificate, or military identification)

¨ Under age of 16 years requires a petition to the district court (consult an attorney for legal advice).

¨ 16 & 17 years of age may apply only with consent of a parent or legal guardian.

¨ $25 fee upon submission of application.

¨ Marriage may be performed by members of the clergy, a Probate, Municipal, District, or Magistrate Judge, or anyone authorized by law.

¨ Certificate of Marriage should be returned to the County Clerk where it was issued within 90 days.

¨ Issuance of licenses is done between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, except holidays.

You may register to vote at any public library, Motor Vehicle Department, Human Services Department, or any other government office.

Vital Statistics and Health Statistics of New Mexico issues birth and death

records for the State of New Mexico. You may obtain a certified copy by writing or calling:

Certified copies are issued in the Deming office on Wednesdays between

the hours of 9:00 am and 3:00 pm. The search fee is $10 and you must show a valid government issued photo identification.
